Who
are we?
IMS is a licensed and bonded dealer in the state of Arkansas
specializing in internet sales of wholesale and privately
owned boats. We are a small dealer with humble means and
the accompanying low overhead which we believe allows us
to put out a good product at the least expense benefiting
both buyer and seller.
Why Ebay?
We choose to do most of our sales on Ebay because our business
is based on high volume and low overhead. Ebay provides
us a unique outlet offering a quick turnaround which lowers
our holding costs and we believe makes us a very competitive
wholesale dealer. Our auctions are LOW or NO Reserve because
we have faith in the market place and believe competitive
open bidding allows the only true auction action. Our risk
can be your gain and yes sometimes we do sell under our
cost but again volume is the key to our business and averages
work to our advantage. Bringing high volume and low overhead
together in a marketing format that provides widespread
exposure works for both the buyer and seller.
How do we do it?
Again, we are licensed dealers and as such that allows us
access to “closed” sales that include dealer
auctions, bank repossessions, trade-ins, rental fleets,
and insurance auctions, beyond that we are always on the
prowl for a good buy on the open market.
What do we do?
First, we give each and every one of our units a top notch
detail job with professional grade products, inside and
out. This includes buffing, steam cleaning, upholstery cleaning,
and generally going over everything on the unit. Additionally,
we either trailer test and/or perform a lake test on the
operations of the boat looking for things like motor or
drive oil contamination, fluid level maintenance, unusual
deposits on the motor pointing to any leaks or suspect connections,
signs of prior poor workmanship or repairs, outdrive operability,
gage operability, electronics operability, and any evidence
of misfire, low compression, or overall poor running. If
we discover it, we either disclose it or fix it. Keep in
mind, we do deal in volume and the checks we perform may
not expose all deficiencies, these are used vehicles. Depending
on the unit we may have seams stitched, upholstery recovered,
fiberglass repaired, fittings replaced, tune-ups performed,
and other “periphery” items brought back to
operating condition but generally no heavy mechanical or
body work unless it is disclosed on the auction.
What about the work?
When we do have work done, major or minor, we
employ the services of qualified subcontractors who specialize
in this business and many of which also service local traditional
marine dealerships.
What are they not telling me?
Yes, the internet invites these kinds of questions, especially
on a large ticket item. This is natural and we understand,
so if you have any doubts, come see it! We can’t stress
it enough, we would rather have you not bid than to have
a failed sale. We try to mention things we think might be
of concern and provide as much history and description as
possible but only you can decide if our product matches
your minds eye. Please remember when you are bidding on
an item without prior inspection, you are buying a used
product sight unseen. At the prices we sell for, we cannot
afford, and will not be reducing the auction price for every
nick, scratch or minor part that you did not foretell when
you were bidding. These are used items and there will be
imperfections. Educate yourself as a buyer and see our terms
below, we believe they are fair to both buyer and seller
and highly encourage inspection and questions.
But
you said….?
We feel it necessary to describe our products as much as
possible and though we do have a lot of experience we are
not you and all statements of condition are nothing more
than opinions. Take heart though, we base our opinions on
our experience and a comparison with hundreds of other boats
of similar condition, age, type, etc. If there is something
on that product which should not be expected for its’
age and use we will tell you about it. We know what we are
looking at and offer our opinions with the utmost confidence.
Take a look at our feedback.
